Alar Astover

Alar Astover is Professor in Soil Science at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. He´s research and teaching is focused on soil-water-plant interactions and nutrient cycles in agroecosystems. Main interest is to expand and transfer evidence-based soil knowledge for farming practice and policy development.
He is leading research from laboratory scale experiments to field and farm scale studies in co-operation with private sector. Ongoing projects (i.e. LIFE CleanEST, EJP Soil, MARVIC) are focused mainly to soil nutrient and carbon management practices. Besides the research leadership and teaching activities he has initiated several science to society activities like national Soil Day event and Soil of the Year nomination.
