Kenneth Peltokangas
Soil Scientist
Kenneth Peltokangas is a soil scientist with expertise in soil amendments such as pulp sludge, composts, and biochar, focusing on their effects on carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycles in boreal soils. His research aims to enhance soil fertility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by integrating environmental chemistry and soil microbiology, contributing to sustainable solutions for climate change mitigation and improved land management practices.
Since earning his PhD in 2023, Kenneth has been working at the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) at the University of Helsinki. He leads the two-year Specialization Program in Climate Expertise, where he mentors 42 professionals from diverse sectors, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to foster systemic change towards a climate-resilient future in their respective fields.
